Something green

Oh , how I wish if days reversed back !!!

I would bring more flowers of these.

Yes from Crown Plaza Hotel in Geneva, a lady who was in charge to change small table vases was collecting those wonderful alive, green flowers into some other kinds.

I found enough courage and asked her to keep which was on the table in front of me.....yes i should have asked for the rest which where displayed.

Here it is,I kept it in the water in my room in a disposable water bottle, and when traveling from town to town and from country to other I would empty the water and storage it head in .

    

Do you agree that this is a wonderful plant or flower?(can't really tell)

I kept it and I still have it.

My journey to Europe

I was lucky enough to spent a wonderful  2 weeks this summer visiting some beautiful countries in Europe .  

I'd like to show some pictures expressing some great views

Is that a forgettable chair ?

Weekend project ( cutlery holder )

A dear friend reminded me that I made a holder for her cutlery  but she took it to her home away, and today she misses it very much 

Well I found it a good project to do in the weekend 

I started with used handkerchief as a background and the top fabric. 

I thought this  burgundy wine color with white swirls and light purple flowers will be nice.

I fixed it over the the handkerchief making folds as much as it can hold.

I divided it every 3 inches more or less

 To use the whole background I added another fabric and I added some details  

For hanging over the wall I open 5 buttonholes

I tried it to show how much it can be useful, and to show what can u do  in small places that can accommodate many things

Finally, I finished my Paint box , actually the picture of the original block is not there anymore after the update.  

 I did this project with Rawya who finished her quilt on time, and you can see her  beautiful quilt here .

Ok, I was late about month or so  for some reasons, everybody has reasons so you don't need to know about it.

Then time came to find that the measure of the quilt is not enough for my bed , so I add 20 blocks more , and I add white sashing with cornerstones 2.5 " each .
  

Next problem is the quilting procedure  itself is not easy to me with large quilt, and I need it to cover king size bed .

So I found this tute regarding a technique  called quilt as you go . I divided my quilt into five sections ( maybe two was enough).

I used the" bondaweb" here to glue the three layers together, I added small pieces here and there especially at the edges and used iron to fix it in place, and it was great idea. 

 I added  the patting , bondaweb and then ironing . I added a lot of safety pins, too.

I quilted each section with one inch away from the edges where I should section.

When all section are quilted free motion as you see,

I gathered the faces together without catching the patting or the backing .

I cut all the axes patting just to join each other not overlapping, and run over them with  ladder stitches by hand.

Then, I cut the backing, so one side will overlap the next one and bigger about one inch, then I closed all the wounds 

finally I added my name, starting, ending dates and the name of the quilt on an extra block.

 No No not finished yet

I added another border, YES after all this quilting, I am crazy making large enough to cover the sides of the bed .
my quilt measures 99" * 83"

My neighbour loved the back too much !!!!

Paint box

Week Eight

My blocks were ready many days before now cause I found good time since my computer was under maintenance and I was away from diving through the net. 

So I began to think about adding the sashing in between blocks of my paint box .

I would add whites with prints and not plain color ( I love colors ).

 And I add to the left columns of some blocks .
 by the way I cut them  2.5"

 What about horizontal sashing. Do I make it one print or  scrappy as well? lets see 

No I need more scrapes and some corner stones which I chose light green with polka dots for them .

Ok me and Rawya are working at the same project so follow her here and add your comments please.
